Anton Caspersen, MD of NORDIC IT, a leading supplier of communications IT solutions for shipping and finance, talks about his company newsletters with Andrew Draper, who writes them:
Q: Why do you use Nordic International for your communications?A. Firstly, we wanted a native English speaker to handle our marketing material. We don’t have good experiences of using non-native English speakers for our translations. It’s also my impression that when an English text is to be corrected and edited, even a native Englishman finds it difficult. You need to be able to absorb things and formulate them well.
Q: And language-wise?
A: You have that clear advantage that you can speak Danish with us. We can formulate things in our native language, Danish. But you take it and transform it to English in a language that’s easy to understand. That’s the big clear difference between you and others – plus you have a journalistic background.
Q: Does it live up to expectations?
A: Absolutely…Everything is fine and elegant, no problems whatsoever.
Q: Would you recommend Nordic International to others?
A: Definitely. I think companies that need to draw up easily understandable English texts, and which don’t have an English person on the staff with the necessary qualifications to express themselves clearly, could benefit. They’d be lucky to have someone in the company who’s able to write. If not, it would be a really good idea to use someone like you.
Q: What’s so special about Nordic International?
A: There must be many alternatives to you – people who can write English, but I bet there aren’t many who can speak Danish!
Q: Any other comments?
A: If we weren’t satisfied, we wouldn’t be using you!
